Improve Your Smile

If you are considering cosmetic dental treatment, the first step is understanding the cause of your concerns and the options that may be appropriate for you. Cosmetic dental treatment may be considered for tooth colour, shape, spacing, alignment, wear, missing teeth, damaged teeth or existing dental restorations. Your oral health, gum condition, bite, tooth structure and treatment goals all form part of the assessment.

You can explore information about:

  • Teeth whitening
  • Crooked or crowded teeth
  • Visible gum levels
  • Gaps between teeth
  • Tooth shape or proportions
  • Worn teeth
  • Missing teeth
  • Damaged teeth
  • What are the treatment options?

Depending on your individual circumstances, options may include:

  • Teeth whitening
  • Composite bonding
  • Enamel reshaping
  • Clear aligners or orthodontic treatment
  • Porcelain veneers or crowns
  • Dental bridges, dentures or dental implants where teeth are missing
  • Fixed implant-supported bridges, including All-on-4® treatment where clinically appropriate
  • Removable cosmetic appliances, where appropriate
  • Not every option is suitable for every person. We will explain the options that may be appropriate for you, including relevant benefits, risks, costs, alternatives, care requirements and the expected treatment process.

How long does treatment take?

The timeframe varies according to the diagnosis, treatment selected and individual circumstances.

Some treatments may be completed in one or a small number of appointments. Orthodontic, restorative and implant treatment may require additional planning, appointments, provisional restorations or healing time. Your dentist will provide an estimated timeline after assessment.

Is treatment uncomfortable?

Dental procedures can involve varying levels of discomfort. We will discuss what to expect for the treatment being considered and available options for managing comfort during and after appointments.

If you experience dental anxiety or are considering sedation, please let us know. Sedation may be discussed where clinically appropriate and after assessment.

How long will treatment last?

The longevity of cosmetic and restorative dental treatment varies. It may be affected by oral hygiene, regular dental reviews, gum health, bite forces, diet, smoking, medical factors and habits such as clenching or grinding.

Dental restorations and appliances require ongoing care and may need adjustment, maintenance, repair or replacement over time. We will discuss the factors relevant to your treatment plan.

How much does treatment cost?

Costs vary according to the treatment selected, complexity of care, materials used, number of teeth involved and any preparatory treatment required. After assessment and treatment planning, we can provide a written estimate for the options discussed. We can explain the treatment process and discuss the planning tools that may be relevant to your care.
