We are still limited in some of our procedures but we can let you know what we can and cannot do at this time, just give us a call.   During this time of hibernation, I have been doing anything but that , but been busy behind the scenes trying to still be of service in any way I can. I have been coming in to serve all those in need with dental emergencies ( some of which actually have been my own child !!!) During this time I will continue to be here to support all of you....
Dental Emergency: Crown Fell Off? Give Us a Call.

Dental Emergency: Crown Fell Off? Give Us a Call.

During these uncertain times with COVID-19, we’ve had calls from some of our patients because they are experiencing some kind of tooth pain. They really don’t want to wait to see if “it will get better”. Normally, they would just call and come in for an appointment. However, because of the lockdowns, they are uncertain what they can do about this pain, and even if they can see a dentist. In this post, we’ll address a common patient concern of a crown coming loose and falling off. Dealing With a Lost Crown – Dental Emergency If you lost a dental crown, what can you do? Crowns can become loose over time either because of wear and tear or something like decay. If one falls off, it’s not a pleasant experience, and you may be worried about increased sensitivity or damage to the underlying tooth. First of all I want you all to know that we are here for you. Simply Email drvicky@smiledesignstudio.com.au or call the practice. All calls are diverted to Dr Vicky for any emergencies or online consults so you can be looked after. Here are a few pointers as to what you can do in the meantime: Don’t panic!  The tooth underneath may be a little sensitive and that is completely normal . Check to see if the inside of the crown is filled or is it hollow? This will determine if the tooth inside the crown has broken or whether it is just the crown has come off the tooth. Clean the crown with water and a soft tooth brush.  Be careful to block the sink...

Coronavirus Safety Procedures at our Perth Dental Clinic

As a practice we want you to be aware that we are continually monitoring the data on the COVID-19 (coronavirus) threat very closely with guidance from the Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)  and the World Health Organisation and assessing the potential impact on the health of our families, staff and our clients.   Your Safety is Our Priority We want to reassure you that you are safe in our hands. We carry out universal precautions as if every person we were treating were infectious so that we take all the measures to protect against infection of any kind. We are doing everything in our capacity to protect our patients and ourselves and our families. These are things that we can assure you that we are doing for your protection: We will not travel to the affected regions and if we do will quarantine ourselves for 14 days on return. We do not come to work if we are sick. We wipe all surfaces down with alcohol wipes in between all patients including areas that are not clinical as long as people have been in contact with them. We no longer greet with handshaking. A smile, wave or nod is what we will do for now. We wash our hands before and after every patient even though we wear gloves. We wear masks at all times. For clinical areas we not only wipe with alcohol wipes but we also cover surfaces, handles etc with barriers that are disposed of after every client. We autoclave everything that will go into a patient’s mouth ensuring that every thing that...
4 Tips to Protect Your Brilliant Smile

4 Tips to Protect Your Brilliant Smile

Having a healthy smile is a reflection of your overall health. When teeth are bright and white, we feel better and we smile more. Studies have shown that smiling is a physical act that excites the brain to produce more “feel good” chemicals like dopamine. Smiling, especially when you have bright white teeth, has also been shown to give you that edge in professional and social success. If you want to keep your brilliant smile, you know there are many pitfalls that can dull your radiant smile. Here are four tips for preserving your awesome smile. Be Purposeful About Oral Care If you set the deliberate intention to protect your teeth from unnecessary harm, this encourages purposeful daily activities such as brushing and flossing. Not only that, when you focus on the task at hand and not rush through the process, your teeth and gums will appreciate it. If you occasionally use a home teeth whitening kit or use quality whitening you’ll roll back any stains from the occasional coffee or curry. Eating Just like we’ve heard it’s important to watch what we eat, it’s also important to watch how we eat. Unless you live in a bland food world, it’s tough to avoid food with deep colours. We may suggest that you use a straw when drinking tea, coffee, or soft drinks. Also, make it a habit to rinse out your mouth with water after eating a meal or drinking dark coloured drinks. Rinsing is better than brushing in this instance because your teeth enamel is usually softer after eating and may be susceptible to erosion from brushing....

Faster Orthodontic Results with Damon Braces

There are many choices in orthodontic treatment. Some people get the traditional brackets and metal wires braces. Others go for a clear, wire-free look (such as Invisalign) because they are almost invisible. Depending on the severity of misalignment, it can take a long time to move teeth into a healthy position. Damon Braces use a technology similar to traditional braces but with a few extra benefits. We are able to takes one’s overall appearance into account. Dr Eric Wang of who has been trained to perform orthodontic treatment with Damon Braces can predict how teeth will move as a person ages and create an alignment that is healthy for a lifetime. Also, Damon braces may move teeth faster, allowing our patients to quickly improve their smile and move on with their lives. How Can Damon Braces Move Teeth Faster? Damon braces have benefits which make them both faster and superior to other types of orthodontic treatment. The brackets are referred to as “self-ligating”, which means they hold themselves in place without steel ties and elastics. The brackets are smoother and less likely to cause damage to the teeth and inside your mouth as they gently move teeth into a more attractive and healthier alignment. In turn, this causes less inflammation and soreness. The treatment can often be accomplished with less appointments. The smoother brackets also make it easier to care for your teeth. Your Teeth Can Make You Look Younger One benefit of Damon braces is that Dr Wang knows how to use braces to create a smile that will look great over a lifetime. Many of our patients...
